From Idea to Operations

It all begins with an idea. Jim’s role in projects has ranged from concept to final delivery. His position in these projects has been from leading upfront to supporting the team as an individual or small team leader.

  • Large Projects

My career has included being a team member of the largest greenfield project in the history of General Mills to the largest construction project in the world (Denver International Airport). I was an active participant and held various leadership roles within each of these.

  • Medium Projects

Medium-sized projects are usually priced from $2,000,000 to nearly $100,000 dollars. They include adding new packaging lines at Western Son Distillery to selecting and installing multiple palletizers for Safeway Bottling.

  • Small Projects

No project is so small to be unimportant. They must all be well-planned and executed. It is critical for safety and the team’s ongoing success. Some of my smaller projects have included building a specialty rack for the storage of label rolls at Safeway. A visit with a plumbing supply house provided the idea of using uni-strut to solve our storage concerns. It’s great when everyone can provide input.

  • Projects Need Teams

I am proud to have led projects that included the opinions and needs of all stakeholders. We had great success at General Mills when the folks in accounting were invited to participate in the process improvement efforts. Efficiencies were raised and costs went down with a full team-building opportunity.

  • Some Projects Only Require Training

My training experience includes informal hands-on training to large organization training initiatives. These have included developing training curriculums to large military unit exercises.
